MTS India touching new benchmarks

MTS India, the mobile telephony brand which is owned by Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), a joint venture between Sistema of Russia and Shyam Group of India, is creating new benchmarks for itself.MTS today announced joining CDMA Development Group (CDG), an international association of CDMA service providers and manufacturers, application developers and content providers. With this enrolment MTS would be interacting with other telecommunications companies that collectively work to ensure interoperability among systems while accelerating the process of adoption of CDMA2000 wireless systems across the globe.Mr. Vsevolod Rozanov, President and CEO of SSTL expressed his delight and said, “MTS India is currently launching CDMA2000 services very aggressively across different telecom circles of the country. As a consortium of international CDMA service providers and manufacturers, CDG provides the right platform for MTS India to connect with the global CDMA community.” “We can share our experiences and also learn about new emerging technologies. Our participation in CDG also reinstates our long-term commitment to CDMA in India and ensures that the benefits of latest breakthroughs inCDMA technology can percolate through the diaspora of both the urban as well as the vastly untapped rural population of the nation,” he added. The CDG would be launching their Open Market Handsets (OMH) initiative for the CDMA mobile industry in India. Subscribers will be able to purchase an open market handset, and then use an OMH SIM card provided by any participating CDMA operator. The OMH initiative will lead to a wider choice of CDMA devices for the users, ranging from low-end handsets to feature-rich smartphones and netbooks.MTS India also plans to adopt 1X Advanced technology to support its ambitious growth plans in India becoming first CDMA2000 brand in world. By implementing 1X Advanced technology, MTS will be able to offer its users the future-ready technology that will enable best-in-class and simultaneous voice and high speed EV-DO data services.
